Alessi's Ark Bio

Travel, adventure and personal revelation mark the new album by singer-songwriter Alessi Laurent–Marke of Alessi’s Ark.The Still Life is a work both lucid and heartbreakingly lovely, a sonic landscape that roams a wide range of emotions, with (as the songwriter explains), “Nature and love, as common threads”.

"I wanted to create a musical landscape that varied in sound,” Laurent-Marke says, “but an overriding feeling of 'stillness' remained throughout the album. I also wanted to step back from playing acoustic guitar and immerse the songs in very different sound settings from previous recordings.”

Only a few short years into her career, the London-based Laurent-Marke – who began playing music and launched a fanzine, Brain Bulletin, during her secondary school years in West London – is already prolific: her first, self-released EP, 2007’s Bedroom Bound, garnered the then-teenage artist a major label deal and attention around the globe. A debut album soon followed, with Laurent-Marke heading to Omaha, Nebraska to record with producer Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, The Faint, Rilo Kiley). The resulting Notes from the Treehouse (EMI/Virgin, 2009) was a testament to both her evolving talents and to her affinity with a new wave of American singer/songwriters.

Her most recent release, 2011’s Time Travel, was praised by the press, with MOJO swooning, “The understated arrangements suggest you’re listening to a woman with impeccable taste…”, and NME remarking, “the songs have a deftness that defies her years”

Still only 22, Laurent-Marke continues to explore. The last few years have seen tours through England and across the Continent – supporting artists including Mumford & Sons, Laura Marling, Villagers, and Laura Veirs – with the young singer backed by a revolving cast of musical collaborators, her own ‘Alessi’s Ark.’ These adventures fuelled the creative inspiration for what would become The Still Life.

To record the album, Laurent-Marke returned again to America, to the small town of Athens, Georgia and the studio of producer Andy LeMaster (of Now It’s Overhead), who has worked with everyone from Bright Eyes to the Drive-By Truckers.

“I had heard brilliant things about Andy as a person, from musicians I'd met while recording the first album in Omaha,”says Laurent–Marke, “and I felt extremely fortunate to spend time together and work so closely on this album. He brought some very gifted, beautiful musicians on board and I was moved by their warmth in Athens.”

That warmth is all over The Still Life: in the shimmering production, in the players’ performances and in the slow, sweet syrup sway that underlies all the album tracks. You can hear summer in these songs, almost see the fireflies and the Spanish moss hanging lazy from the oaks.

“The phrase 'the still life' has always resonated with me,” says Laurent-Marke of the album’s title. “In my mind 'The Still Life' is what we're all aiming for, the chapter in our lives that we find peace and understanding, within us and in our surroundings.”

That feeling of peace, or the desire for it, threads through each of the album’s tracks. There is a comforting singsong undulation on tracks like “Veins are Blue,” “Mountain,” and “Money”. “The Rain” captures the calm disconnect that comes with travel, the feel of passing landscapes set to the whistle and roll of train tracks rhythms. On songs like The National-cover “Afraid of Everything”, Laurent-Marke goes deliciously dark and deep, embracing a spooky western swing that calls to mind flames licking at black night and low howls at a high moon.

The latter, along with the magical “Sans Balance” (which boasts lyrics in both French and English), are the only two tracks recorded outside of Athens. Enlisting Brit producer Nic Nell in South London, Laurent-Marke’s found a perfect match to LeMaster, two producers creating sound that brings the album together as a united whole.

In the end, The Still Life is Laurent-Marke coming into her own, finding a place at the centre of her inspirations that reflects the truest parts of herself. And from the sound of it, that’s a very good place to be.

“I hope that this album is good company for the listener,” says Laurent-Marke, “ I tried to create something that would leave them happy, leave them with a feeling of peace. To me, the best thing an album can be is a friend you can rely on.”

Critical acclaim for "Time Travel", the second album from Alessi's Ark:

“the songs have a deftness that defies her years” • NME – 8/10

“Reverb-laden memoirs such as Blanket and Stalemate mine a rich source of melodic fuel…” • MOJO – 4 Stars ****

“As precocious as Laura Marling, the 12 songs reveal a talent that’s on the verge of becoming something special… Beautiful and beguiling, the album gets under your skin” • The Guardian – 4 Stars ****

A bit about Richard Hawley... by Graham Wrench

Richard was born on 17/1/1967 in Sheffield UK to Dave and Lyn Hawley. Dave had been a well known Sheffield musician in the 1960’s playing guitar for his own Dave Hawley Combo and The Black Cats, as well as numerous others. He would often put ‘pick up’ bands together for touring US musicians and would end up playing with the fearsome talents of people like Little Walter or John Lee Hooker. Lyn was also a singer on the club circuit with her sister Jean White. They sang (amongst others) Everly Brothers covers or rock n roll hits of the day. Meanwhile Richards uncle Frank White was carving out a name for himself locally as one of the best guitarists the city had seen, along with Dave. Frank is remembered for his twin necked guitar which he had long before Jimmy Page became synonymous with the instrument in Led Zeppelin.

It is inevitable then that Richard, son and nephew of phenomenal guitarists and singers and grandson of a music hall violinist and musical saw player would become a musician. After Richard’s father found him with his prized guitar that Richard had been warned away from at an early age, Richard was taught the instrument by his family and taught well enough to find himself on the road in Germany aged 14. He toured with Chuck Fowlers Band playing rock ‘n’ roll covers in-between strippers and exotic dancers strutting their stuff in the fading glamour of Hamburg’s nightlife at the beginning of the 1980’s. One taste of life on the road was enough to focus Richard on what he wanted to do. His love for rock ‘n’ roll and rockabilly had been there since he was a boy and with the appearance of new bands like (particularly) The Stray Cats and The Meteors his enthusiasm grew more.

Meanwhile, Britain was becoming hooked on synthetic music; literally. Synthesizers were the new hip instruments and Sheffield became the country’s leading exponent in electronic music. Now they seem the norm but at the time Human League, ABC, Cabaret Voltaire all appeared revolutionary in a way that punk had done just a few years before. Every band in the city had a synth and a drum machine. Well, all but one; Treebound Story. Treebound Story began life at Firth Park School and consisted of 5 friends; Paul Infanti (vocal) Richard Hawley (Guitar/BV’s) Paul Currie (Bass),Rob Gregory (Drums) and Simon Beckett (percussion). Taking their influences from The Byrds, Flying Burrito’s, 13th Floor Elevators and Chocolate Watchband (to name a few) their music was fresh, melodic and guitar driven. It was focused on traditional song writing values and ignored the current fads; electronic, goth and house.

Odd then that Treebound Story became signed to FON records in Sheffield; owned by Industrial Funk outfit Chakk it seemed an unlikely label to release their first single. They went on to release one more single on FON before being picked up by Doncaster label Native Records. The band released one recognised classic ‘Swimming In The Heart Of Jane’ which was a John Peel favourite at least. But after years of staying together as a tight band of brothers the labels inability to release their recorded debut album became one let down too many and the band finally accepted their fate as they split in 1992 after a number of years being the hottest band in Sheffeld along with their notional rivals Pulp (the bands were never so much rivals as much as being both bands who everyone knew should succeed).

From the ashes of Treebound, The Lovebirds were born with a nucleus of Richard, Paul (Cuz) Rob and Simon. Additions were John Stuart (from aforementioned Chakk) and Dean Steel on Rhythm guitar. Despite an offer of an indie deal from Ultimate Records the band never released anything as a full commercial release but did do a 12” white label. Then Longpigs came knocking for Richard, whilst Robert was to go on and form the nucleus of Babybird.

Longpigs were a new breed of band in Sheffield. They were born out of some great musicians in bands who should have made it – the Happening Men, Treebound Story, Chakk were all the backbone of the Sheffield scene. Longpigs had learnt from this and were a leaner more hungry, focused and determined band. And they damn nearly made it big. They had a number of hit singles including ‘On and On’ ‘She Says’ and ‘Jesus Christ’ and two great albums deemed to be part of Britpop but endless touring in the States with U2, Radiohead, The Bunnymen and others burnt the band out. Finally their record label which was owned by U2 closed down the day the band appeared on Friday nights galvanising music TV show ‘TFI Friday’ with the zeitgeist host Chris Evans. After two albums, numerous singles and far too many tours the band imploded leaving Richard demoralised, demonic and demented! It seemed possible that the end of the road had been reached.

But true to Richards philosophy of’ ‘what comes around goes around’… he got a call from his old school friend Steve Mackay asking if he would be up for playing guitar with Pulp as the band had finally taken off in the supersonic fashion every Sheffield music obsessive knew would happen eventually. Richard had no hesitation in saying “get me on the bus’”. Three years or more of playing with Pulp followed with headlines at Glastonbury, Leeds/Reading and V festivals in the UK and their final studio album ‘We Love Life’ released in 2001. And once more, back to square one.

By this time, to many around Richard it seemed the inevitable would finally have to come. He had shown to many friends over the years that he was more than a gifted guitarist (and at times that seemed a ridiculous understatement). Many drunken nights in Richard’s company would end with him singing old Elvis songs or Hank Williams or John D Loudermilk or occasionally something quiet he had written himself. Songs about Pitsmoor; the area of Sheffield he had grown up in – “next to a butchers and the taxidermist and over the road from the cemetery” as he would often say.

Pitsmoor is a faded glory place. Its got a grimness to an outsider but if you know it and you look closely it has a history and a proud successful past in the steel industry; where Richards father had originally worked; at the rolling mills and furnaces once the signature of the lower Don Valley. There, in the cemetery there was a romance and pride which the modern world seemed to want to wipe off the planet. So when Richard came back to Sheffield after years of touring the world, the city he knew had been ravaged by the miners strike, the closure of the steel industry and inexplicable attempts at redevelopment which further alienated Sheffield people from Sheffield.

From that background and the help of good friends and musicians Colin Elliot, Shez Sheridan, Andy Cook and Si Stafford Richard’s first self titled ‘mini’ album was born. Originally it was his opinion it would be released on the internet only but Keith Cullen who ran Setanta Records in London’s fashionable Camden Town showed complete belief in the record, making it a much talked about debut and ensuring the British press and radio took it seriously. Harking back to what seemed to be another time, it never became pastiche, simply timeless music; a blueprint which has tended to stick with Richard throughout his career.

Richard continued to balance his own career and releases with a fierce loyalty to Pulp’s last few tours and Jarvis’ venture into his own solo career. There were numerous side projects around this time in the early 2000’s; Relaxed Muscle being the oddest; a reaction to the lack of humour and fun in the stagnation after Britpop maybe? Whatever Relaxed Muscle was it certainly wasn’t what it claimed to be “the sound of Young Doncaster”. If it were to be taken seriously at all it might have been closer to The Residents than anything else. Meanwhile Richard toyed with slight electronic diversions with Teenage Werewolf – as he once dubbed it ‘Electrobilly’. One great single was half released and the rest was history.

In Richards increasingly main job; his solo career, he was forced to take up the mantle he had laid down and better the mini album. To manys suprise he did in the full album debut ‘Late Night Final’ which showed he had much wider skills than the emerging term ‘Americana’ would have pigeonholed him with. This album had soaring great pop songs (Baby Youre My Light, Something Is) and a dark melancholy underpinning which probably comes to fruition strongest in the albums ending ‘Long Black Train’ (which eventually ended up on the film ‘V For Vendetta’ to signify the train which was used to blow up the Houses Of Parliament in the film.

Lowedges (named after a region of Sheffield) continued many themes on the previous releases. It seemed a much brighter, lighter and airier record in places and possibly the bright sunlit, silhouetted cover signifies a more hopeful artist than Late Night Final projected. It has been commented on alot that Richard does make melancholic music but it has a sense of hope in it rather than it being negative. It is a positive thing though not necessarily always happy. This album did though mark an end to his relationship with Setanta Records and open the door for a new label; Mute. Mute had been seen very much as an electronic music pioneer – launching the careers of Depeche Mode, The Normal, Silicon Teens, Erasure, Yazoo, Goldfrapp etc. It was also the home for Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and hidden away in the label were lovers of Lee Hazelwood, Jack Nitzsche, Hank Williams,Scott Walker et al as well as being lovers of modern ground breaking music. It was a label which took risks to lead not follow. It was the perfect home for Richard .

And so came Coles Corner, the album which pulled many of the previous themes together and made sense of them and what Richard was trying to achieve. Essentially a songwriter, a guitarist and now dubbed a crooner. The album became Mercury Music Award nominated – famously losing out to the Arctic Monkeys with Alex saying on his acceptance speech “call 999, Richard Hawleys just been robbed”. The great thing was though that Sheffield had won and Sheffield music scene was once more being reinvented.

Was it during his time Richard and Jarvis went to America to work on Nancy Sinatra’s album? And later when Richard co-wrote with Elbow? The list of collaborations of the years is well documented on the ‘collaborations’ section of this site. But it is important to note that Richard spends as much time on other people’s music as he does on his own. He is a musician first and foremost so collaborations are part of the every day. What makes the collaborations happen are wide and varied. In the past it would have been friendship, intrigue and loyalty, then sometimes it was as a guitar for hire when times were lean. But now its simply part of what makes Richard tick as a musician. If something takes his fancy he’ll do it, if it doesn’t he won’t no matter what.

Ladys Bridge was recorded in 2007 and in many ways was Richard’s most successful record to date. It charted at number 6 UK and was the most radio played of all his albums. The album launch took place in Hawley’s Tyres – a tyre fitting garage just around the corner from Ladys Bridge. In keeping with the occasional odd venues Richard had played in (the first album was launched with a free gig at Henderson’s Relish factory in Sheffield) Richard finished the Ladys Bridge campaign with a gig in a cave – the oddly titled ‘Devil’s Arse’ in Castleton, Derbyshire well into December ’08. The album is personified by the lush use of strings and its epic quality.

And so finally to Richard’s most recent album; Trueloves Gutter which was released 21st Sept and saw Richard still firmly entrenched in his home town muse but still not following the obvious paths. It has been well documented this record has 10 minute+ songs and that in a traditional sense it has no singles – though after being used on a TF advert, ‘Open Up Your Door’ was released. Singles will always have their place but they shouldn’t be the reason a writer sits and writes. Trueloves Gutter is a personal view of Richard and the world around him and the people. In Richard’s career (as he laughingly calls it…) it is the next chapter and something he has been hugely excited by. It has meant he has discovered new instruments; the mega bass waterphone, glass harmonica and cristal bachet and he has finally managed to get a musical saw on his own record – something his grandfather would probably approve of.

Richard’s best description of the music of his home town of Sheffield is probably the analogy he gives it with the ‘Little Mesters’ in the Steel industry. Little Mesters was the collective name given to individual crafts people who worked mainly alone and with great skill . They worked in tiny little rooms in the centre of the city and created things of great beauty, or things of great use. Each one was distinctively different and did very different jobs. But they all made strangely different things that could only be made in Sheffield.

Kyle Baker

One young fella thats doing incredibly well in this Steel City of ours is Kyle Baker

In a really short space of time this fella has played to 12000 in Hillsborough Park, played almost every Sheffield venue that matters, released a demo cd and given it away at his performances, and is ready to record his debut album

Last night he played Green Room, armed with his guitar and a wealth of self penned Sheffield related songs

Kyle also has a number of exciting gigs on the way for you to nip along to.

He is also playing a massive gig this summer where he will be on stage showcasing his new album tracks

Being this successful isnt an accident either - his songs tell stories in much the same way that Alex Turner pened the first Monkeys album.

The lyrics maintain that gritty Sheffield humour mixed with real life scenarios that we can all relate to

In a time when singer songwriters are once again starting to flourish, Kyle is putting a team around him to move to the next level including getting a full band together for the recording studio seasions

We literally cannot wait to hear Kyle's stuff put to the full band sound.. Its gotta be a winner

Kyle Baker's the name - check him out asap

Here's a question for you..

When you go to see a live band do you appreciate them playing covers or would you prefer to hear original material from them ?

Does the odd cover add to a show ?

Does playing a number of covers risk the band becoming known as a covers/tribute band ?

If you're a new band does playing covers slow down your progression towards improving and succeeding ?

Or is it just harmless covers being played at a gig that people should just enjoy and not worry about ?

Which side of this 'covers fence' do you sit ?

Hello, Joe. When you started out playing the Sheffield pubs and clubs in the early 60s you called yourself Vance Arnold. Where did the name come from?

It was self-invented, much to my embarrassment for years. But everyone used to have names in Sheffield – like Johnny Tempest (1Let's Go Get Stoned by Ray Charles, which kind of turned everybody around a bit, and we came off looking pretty good that day. A lot of other artists didn't enjoy themselves at all.

Did you try the legendary brown acid?

I was furious because all the band had taken acid and they didn't tell me. I was the only one straight. I have been offered brown acid in my time, though. Even black acid – I took that. That was very weird. It was a very dark trip.

You told an interviewer back in the early 1970s: "My manager tells me it's good not to have a lot of money in your bank account because that way you don't get a lot of beggars and parasites trying to peck your neck off." Were you easily parted from your money?

Denny Cordell (4) gave me a copy of Khalil Gibran's The Prophet, so we all got into the spiritual thing of saying we should give everything away. And people would take it. Ten grand here, 10 grand there. Anything businesslike I didn't want to know. So in many ways it was my own fault. But there were the men with big cigars and the sharks. We fell for them – not just me, but many artists.

In 1972 you were arrested for marijuana possession in Australia. One Australian writer described you as "yet another of these uncouth dirty haired, sloppily dressed show business freaks". What's the worst thing anyone's ever said about you?

The Australians actually owned up that they set us up. Somebody wrote a book a few years ago saying it was a government thing, an election thing – we were just used as guinea pigs. But at the time it was real scary to be down in Australia. You didn't have that communication thing you do nowadays. But I don't know if anything written has ever really bothered me. When my movements used to be called "spastic motions", I didn't like that one bit. I thought that was a pretty cruel thing to say.

But at least you didn't have to put up with gossip mag intrusion …

I had a little flat with a girlfriend from Sheffield when we first moved to London. Little Help was No 1 and I went to Sloane Square to get a newspaper and there were a bunch of schoolgirls on a day out. There's me with my long hair and my tie-dyed T-shirt, and they saw me from across the road and came running. It was in my hash-smoking days. And I remember the horror in my heart as these teenyboppers came running towards me. We weren't into the old autograph thing.

We've just had the Obama inauguration. What's it like to sing at an inauguration ball?

It was strange for me because I lost my voice. I remember seeing the old George Bush bringing in Barbara his wife – they're very tall. And I get up there and I go [croaks] "You are so beautiful …" I tried my best to sing but I could not get a note out. I'd been singing all night the night before with Sam Moore at rehearsals. We'd just been singing the blues …

It seems very odd for a Woodstock veteran to sing for a former director of the CIA …

I'd been living in the USA and I'd been busted on a few occasions, and when I married my wife they eliminated one of them from my record. I was settling in the States and I got this memo: Will you sing for the president? It was a bit like being asked to do a Royal Command performance in England. I just went with it. I had no political leanings. If I had any now I'd be leaning more towards the Democrats. But at the time I really didn't have any thoughts either way.

To a generation you are the man who sang the Officer and a Gentleman theme song

I absolutely hated Up Where We Belong when I first heard it. But I could tell as we were putting the track down that it was going to be a big record. It was the only No 1 I ever had in America.

You've said your version of You Can Leave Your Hat On is the strippers' anthem since it was used in 9 1/2 Weeks. Is there a song that could be the gas fitters' anthem?

[Laughs] A gas fitters' anthem? I can't see that.

The ZicZac Rock Hotel in Zurich has a room called Joe Cocker. Have you ever stayed in it?

No, I stay in another place up the road.

You're right to do so. TripAdvisor's users say the ZicZac's rooms are dirty and smelly and the floors slope.

What's the name of it? I've got to check into it.

Do you have routines to help you relax in unfamiliar hotel rooms when you're out on the road?

I've been taking Ambien for a while now. I have tinnitus from years of loud music and some nights it's the only way I can put it out of my mind. My wife's always trying to get me to stop. You don't dream, which is not the best thing in the world. But I know I'm going to get some sleep. I'm 69, and you know you're going to be a casualty of the rock world somewhere down the line.

Are you an Owl or a Blade?

I stay in tune with the Blades. But they've gone from the Premier League back to League One. I do take an interest. It's a wonder of technology that we get all the soccer on a Saturday morning. I'm going to watch Bradford play Villa when we're finished with this interview.

The Blades get all the showbiz fans – you, Sean Bean, Def Leppard. And the Owls get Roy Hattersley. What have they done to deserve that?

Paul Carrack, he's a Sheffielder and he was always a big Wednesday fan.

Can you name another Cocker to have had a UK No 1?

Did Jarvis?

No he didn't. He never got past No 2.

A Cocker? A man called Cocker? No. Go on.

Les Cocker!

Really?

Yes, he was the trainer to the England 1970 World Cup squad and he sang on their single.

Does this guy know how to slow down ?

It's 50 years since Joe won his first record contract and at 68 years old he's still going strong..

Following his release in November last year of 'Fire It Up' Joe is hard at it again in 2013 so expect to see him popping up with live dates, and potentially a new project..

We don't want him to slow down or stop by the way... more Cocker - that's what we want !

Def Leppard re-record and re-release Hysteria..

Def Leppard fans may/may not like the news that the boys have gone and re-recorded Hysteria as a digital single for 2013 and banged it up on Itunes for download...

Here's what it says on the official DL website :

2013 sees Def Leppard release “Hysteria 2013” – a contemporary take on their classic album’s title track. Produced by Def Leppard and Ronan McHugh, the single was recorded in Joe’s Studio in Dublin, Eire. Hysteria (2013) was released worldwide on 19 March 2013 by Bludgeon Riffola/Mailboat Records in the digital only format.

Having heard snippets it seems a very toned down version - especially vocally..

These things usually tend not to go as well as the bands/artists would like so will be interesting to see what happens...

Here it is if you want to go check it out - https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/hysteria-2013-re-recorded/id609706943?ign-mpt=uo%3D4

Looks like Abandoned Faith are shaping up to steal the show again..

The band are in rehearsals along with new member Aidan Hall (Ex Eight Deadly Words) on bass following the departure of previous bass player Roman who has set off for pastures new

It's all sounding like it's going to bring the boys back with a bang for 2013 too with rehearsals apparently going even better than could be expected

It's most definitely going to be an interesting year for the band who looked under a bit of strain recently with Roman's departure and drummer Aaron disappearing down under to Australia on an extended holiday..

Sheffield Band just can't wait for this band to get back into the live scene and hit us again with some of that Abandoned Faith magic...

Hopefully bigger and better than ever before

Former Arctic Monkeys bassist and now one of the genius minds behind new Sheffield project 'Clubs & Spades' Andy Nicholson stepped in to join Reverend and the Makers in their recent USA gigs

The gigs were a resounding success for the band and have certainly lit up the American music scene paving the way for possibly more Reverend travels as their third album and their electrifying live dates showcase the bands sublime musical skills

Andy seemed to enjoy himself too as the band played gigs in New York, Austin TX etc

Pulp's Jarvis Cocker talking about Bowie making him feel lazy !

Pulp's Jarvis Cocker says that David Bowie makes him feel lazy...

Talking about the "David Bowie Is" exhibition at London's V&A gallery (which opens on Saturday), he said: "The main thing that will impress people as they go around the V&A is the sheer volume of stuff Bowie has done, it makes me feel very lazy. He made a real impact on our culture: he brought a lot of those quite subversive and alternative ideas right into people's living rooms. He had a very normal name - David Jones - and in a way he was a very typical person of his era, and yet he turned himself into a unique creature".

"When I was growing up David Bowie was like the patron saint of the music scene, and then he disappeared for a while and I feel that now he is back like a benign force floating above us. I'm getting into his new album. Recycling the sleeve of the '"Heroes"' album with 'The Next Day' stuck over the front of it says interesting things about looking back. Maybe it's saying that the latest idea to go forward is that you have to go back - that's kind of what is happening in culture at the moment."

Singers wanted to collaborate with in studio recordings

Hi, I'm Andy from Snowdune. I write very diverse music with my best friend and my cousin. We also like to collaborate with other musicians for our mutual benefit. If you are a singer, male or female, of any style and would like to sing on one of our tracks please get in touch. We have some of our music up here http://www.snowdune.co.uk/ but we have 3 times as many songs we've yet to put up, some wanting singers.

It doesn't matter if you are already in a band, or have never been in one, all we need is good singers to match up with appropriate songs.

So many professional artists are collaborating, doing remixes of other people's tracks, and guesting on other people's tracks, it's about time we all started doing the same as it's great experience for us all, great fun and who knows, one of our tracks could end up making it big and you might be on to something

Have a good listen, there's lots of different styles up there. We are currently particularly looking for a male singer with a bit of a rock feel and with some attitude to sing on a santana-esk commercial track. Full credit will be given to any singer and if anything ever comes of a track they'll not be left out of anything coming to us.

Hopefully you can see the above image ok - it's something I've put together using the latest playlists and audience figures for a couple of radio stations who could and should be looking at it and reassessing their knowledge and understanding of what people are looking for..

The days of giggling over the top DJ's playing plastic manufactured teeny pop toss are way gone.

People want more than that - they need music with substance, a message from the DJ's that's relevant, and a different experience to what is currently coming at them...

Radio stations should adapt and grow up - or face being completely and totally irrelevant...

Let me know what you think....,
